London Stock Exchange eyes IPOs from Gulf in 2013


The London Stock Exchange is expecting to see “a couple” of initial public offerings (IPOs) on the bourse from companies based in the Gulf this year, a senior executive said.

Speaking to Arabian Business magazine, the stock exchange’s manager of primary markets for Middle East and Africa said firms in the region were once again examining the prospect of share listing in the UK capital amid improving economic sentiment.

“There’s confidence returning in a number of sectors, be that property, tourism, leisure, and general market confidence returning globally is leading to a number of other opportunities for us for listings from the region,” Richard Webster-Smith said in an interview in Dubai.
