Strong Q1 promises good year for Sharjah tourism


Strong first-quarter performance promises a positive year for Sharjah’s tourism, a top official of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, or SCTDA, said.

Speaking at the Sharjah pavilion on the sidelines of the Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition, or GIBTM 2013, that concluded in Abu Dhabi, Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, director-general of the SCTDA, said that the first quarter of the year for Sharjah’s tourism sector has been very healthy and robust with the hotel industry in the emirate reporting near-full occupancy rates and maintaining the growth of the last year.
