SR967m contracts inked for Jubail, Ras Al-Khair projects

Prince Saud Bin Abdullah Bin Thunayyan, president of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, signed Monday three contracts worth a total of SR966.63 million for implementing power projects in Ras Al-Khair Industrial City and carrying out design works for power and communication systems in the second industrial city in Jubail (Jubail 2).

Speaking to reporters after the signing ceremony held at his office here, Prince Saud said more projects will be awarded to the private sector in Ras Al-Khair in the near future. “So far, more than SR5 billion in investments has been pumped into this industrial city to boost its basic industries, including aluminum and minerals,” he said.

Two contracts were signed with Saudi Services for Electro-Mechanical Works Company and Al-Babtain Contracting Company for setting up of two 1,500 megawatts electricity power plants in Ras Al-Khair. The plants will then be linked to the power grid of Saudi Electricity Company. The contracts, which also include construction of buildings and amenities for the plants, will be implemented within 38 months.
