Saudi, Qatari businessmen vow to boost bilateral trade

The Joint Qatari-Saudi Businessmen’s Council has pledged to remove the obstacles in strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.

In a meeting here at the weekend, the council said that despite the two countries being neighbors and having historical ties, bilateral trade between them reached only QR7.1 billion in 2011, or an increase of barely 3.3 percent from QR6.9 billion the previous year.

Mohamed Bin Towar Al-Kuwari, deputy head of the council and vice-chairman of Qatar Chamber, called for removing the hurdles that face Qatari and Saudi businessmen in doing business and making investments in each other’s countries.
