Abu Dhabi workers get $3.5m in unpaid wages
Nearly AED13m (US$3.5m) was paid out in 2012 to workers in the UAE who successfully claimed an employer had not paid their full entitlements, according to Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD).
More than 1,830 people won their cases in the ADJD’s Reconciliation & Settlement Committees, receiving a total AED12.8m.
One worker received AED1.2m in financial entitlements.
An ADJD statistical report released on Sunday says 99.8 percent of cases dealt with by the committee in 2012 settled, an increase of 0.9 percent compared to 2011.
