Maaden unit to build Saudi gold processing plant


A unit of Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) has signed a contract worth more than SR1bn to build a gold processing plant in the Gulf kingdom.

Maaden said in a statement that its affiliate, Maaden Gold and Base Metals Company, has signed the contract with Hanwha Engineering and Construction.

The gold processing plant will be built at the Ad Duwayhi Gold Mine site currently under development in a remote area of the desert between Riyadh and Taif.

Khalid Al Mudaifer, Maaden president and CEO, said the contract includes completing detailed engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up assistance and training services.
