Fake spiritual healers make quick bucks

With a reported increase in the number of people seeking spiritual healing in Qatar, several fake practitioners are allegedly cashing in on the demand to make some quick bucks.

Some are also said to be dealing with their women customers in an indecent manner, according to Al Sharq.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has permitted “ruqyah”, a form of spiritual healing using words and verses from the Holy Quran and authorised some 18 clerics to perform this.

No others are allowed to practise any type of spiritual healing.

However, some people are doing this without an authorisation from the ministry, cashing in on the high demand for the service from citizens and expatriates, said the daily.
