DOHA: Some eateries have increased prices during last two months, as people believe it is unjustified and urged the Consumer Protection Department (CPD) to take actions against greedy owners of the eateries.
Restaurant operators are blaming soaring prices of meat, vegetables and fruits for the expensive menus. But the consumers say that prices of these products are stable in the local market and it could not be justified anyway to increase the prices of meals.
“I agree that some restaurants increase its prices exploiting the fluctuating rate of fruits and vegetables for making more profits but I don’t think they can survive for long, said the manager of an eatery. There is tough competition in the local market and for sure such eateries will loose its customers, he added.
Some restaurants have increased prices of the meals and beverages 30 percent that is exaggeration, said the manger, Al Arab reported yesterday.
