Gulf Air's strategy already paying off


Gulf Air's restructuring strategy is having dramatic results already.

Figures revealed last night show that last month, through implementation of cost-saving measures and an aggressive efficiency drive, Bahrain's national carrier reduced its overall losses by more than 34 per cent compared with January last year.

The airline also posted a 9.6pc increase in passenger revenue against its budgeted revenue and increased its yields by more than 8pc.

"Gulf Air - which announced a restructuring strategy last December, spearheaded jointly by the airline's board of directors led by its chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and the airline's management - recorded restructuring progress within a month of its on-going implementation," said a statement last night.
