The Formula One pre-season could be held in the Gulf next year, according to a senior executive at tyre maker Pirelli.
Motorsport director Paul Hembery told Motor Sport magazine that the condition of the asphalt at the Jerez circuit in Spain had deteriorated so badly it was no longer good enough for the wintry conditions of the pre-season, which started last week.
"I think next year maybe we should go to Bahrain or Abu Dhabi," Hembery said.
