Dubai's Emirates Airline and Australian carrier Qantas Airways may expand their yet-to-be-approved alliance to include ground handling and support services in the future, according to a submission to the Australian competition watchdog.
In a submission lodged on Thursday, Qantas has moved to assure the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and trade unions that the proposed alliance with Emirates was purely focused on flying operations.
However, it also said the airlines may look to partner in buying ground handling, engineering and catering services in the future.
