Trade exchange between the UAE and Turkey reached Dh33.3 billion in the first eight months of 2012 driven primarily by record growth of UAE’s non-oil exports to Dh8.5 billion, which was three-fold the UAE’s exports to Turkey in 2011, according to a study released by the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
“UAE’s re-exports hit a record high at Dh1.2 billion while imports stood at Dh23.6 billion. UAE’s trade with Turkey constituted 4.9 per cent of the total UAE’s non-oil trade in the January-August period of 2012,” the study said.
The study noted the positive shift in Turkey’s position as a trade partner to the UAE from 17th rank in 2011 to the fifth rank in the said period.
