UAE visa amnesty to end in 24 hours

Illegal workers have 24 hours to leave the United Arab Emirates or apply for a visa before a 60-day amnesty ends.
From Tuesday fines worth AED50,000 (US$13,000) will be issued to employers that use illegal workers or allow their sponsored employees to work for others.
The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has warned it will carry out 24-hour inspections of workplaces as soon as the amnesty deadline ends.
The amnesty – the fourth in the UAE – allows those working without valid visas to either apply to renew their visa or leave the country without penalty.
