Report: Qatar Airways CEO may ruffle feathers as he joins Heathrow's board



Akbar Al Baker, chief executive officer of Qatar Airways, has been appointed as a non-executive director of Heathrow Airport Holdings, the Telegraph reports.

Al Baker joins Ali Bouzarif as representatives of Qatar Holding following its October purchase of a 20 percent stake in the British airport conglomerate. The board of directors is now comprised of 15 people.

According to the newspaper:

|(Al Baker’s) appointment has the potential to anger other airlines, particularly rivals from the Middle East, as some may fear he may hold more sway when further slots become available. It is understood to be the first time the head of a member airline has sat on the airport authority’s board.
