Ecclestone looks to Emirates for F1 deal

Bernie Ecclestone is expected to seal a sponsorship deal for Formula One with Emirates Airlines in Dubai on Tuesday worth about $200m.
.
The F1 chief executive is understood to have persuaded the airline to sign a deal that in terms of size would make it one of the biggest in motorsport. It is expected to last five years.
.
Emirates last dabbled in F1 in 2006 when it sponsored the McLaren racing team, but the sponsorship lasted a year.
.
Since then, Gulf states have thrown large amounts of money at F1, notably the construction of circuits to stage Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain.
